New VMware Cloud Services from Selectel
Select has launched a new service for creating VMware-based public, private, and hybrid clouds: VMware Cloud.
What Is VMware Cloud
Surveys have shown that numerous Selectel clients working in different industries have developed VMware infrastructures. Many wish to implement a hybrid strategy by integrating the capabilities of a data processing center with their local systems. This lets organizations continue to use their existing software tools and employee knowledge of the existing operating environment, built on VMware software. To satisfy the needs of this trend, Selectel has launched its new service.
With the VMware Cloud, clients can:
- seamlessly integrate their resources in a hybrid cloud
- set up a completely private VMware cloud using data center resources
- host their virtual machines in a public cloud
“Selectel and VMware give IT departments and developer groups an environment that improves efficiency and reduces capital expenses by combining VMware cloud capabilities with the reliable infrastructure of a Tier III data center,” remarked Aleksandr Tugov, Director of Service Development at Selectel. “The idea is to give customers options for cloud environments, so as to provide the same architecture, capabilities, and user experience as the vSphere local environment. We offer clients a wide range of additional services, including VMware administration support, dedicated communication channels between data centers and businesses, virtual desktop service setup, firewalls, and DDoS mitigation.
“As the leading provider of cloud computing infrastructures, VMware offers a universal approach to transforming data centers with software defined infrastructures. Many companies in Russia and abroad have fully benefited from implementing a software defined infrastructure. Now, using the Selectel VMware Cloud, a company can seamlessly integrate their own software defined data center with a public cloud infrastructure,” remarked Vladimir Tkachev, VMware SE Manager of Russia & CIS.
VMware Cloud: Three Levels of Availability
Selectel’s six geographically distributed data centers allow clients to choose from three availability levels for their virtual environment, including high-availability and catastrophe-tolerant solutions. Selectel offers automatic relaunch and replication of virtual machines, backup storage across multiple data centers, and other innovative infrastructure models.
This means clients can use the VMware tools they know to manage their applications without rewriting software or changing their work model. In this case, clients moving to a cloud infrastructure leasing model can save on their environment and shift from capital expenditures to operating expenses. With the VMware Cloud, users can choose from a wide array of Selectel services, including innovative hardware, servers, scalable storage, DDoS mitigation, dedicated communication channels between data centers and client platforms, and many more.
